Since starting my own firm in July 2002, I can appreciate the challenges faced by the owner/operator and the advantages of being able to be more entrepreneurial and flexible when offering business solutions.
My 26 years of Chartered Accountancy have included working with a national importer/distributor of machinery, the Apple & Pear Board, auditing with major accountancy firms in New Zealand and the UK, and since 1980 being a Chartered Accountant in public practice with a local firm in Rotorua. I have an interest and specialist knowledge in the following areas:-
Business Structures: To suggest and implement structures that allow ownership flexibility but which are also tax effective. Rural Accounting: My personal involvement in developing a kiwifruit orchard means I have a particular interest and expertise in this area. Management Accounting and Reporting: Utilising a strong background in systems and financial modelling. Information Technology, some might say a passion. I am always looking at how technology can make business more efficient. Business Advisory: I am involved with a number of significant manufacturing and service-based companies in Rotorua.
My leisure time is taken up with golf, tennis, squash and clay bird shooting, which helps when it comes to duck shooting season. I have also enjoyed owning classic sports cars through the years.
